When Baldur’s Gate 3 was released on the Steam Deck, many were skeptical about how well such a massive PC game would perform on a handheld device. However, not only has the DnD-based RPG been verified for the Steam Deck, but it has also surpassed Elden Ring as the most-played game on the platform in August 2023.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has continued to achieve success since its PC launch last month. Developed by Larian Studios, the latest installment in the Baldur’s Gate series has attracted nearly 1 million concurrent players on Steam and now holds the title of the most-played game on the Steam Deck.
The news was announced on the official Steam Deck Twitter page, with the list being based on hours played. While it may not be surprising to see the DnD RPG on the list, claiming the number one spot over other top games for the Steam Deck is still an impressive accomplishment.
There are some unexpected additions to the list as well. Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon, the latest game from FromSoftware, appears at number 16, trailing behind popular titles like The Binding of Isaac and The Witcher 3.
Holo Cure Save the Fans, an unofficial fan game featuring popular Vtubers, is also a new addition to the list. Its popularity is likely due to its free-to-play nature and being inspired by Vampire Survivors, a game that has consistently ranked high on the list for months.
With the release of Starfield approaching, it is expected that the huge Bethesda RPG will become one of the most-played games on the Steam Deck next month. However, its success on the Valve handheld will depend on how well it performs.
